RVA Street Art: Street Art Festival 2016

In April 2016, the RVA Street Art Festival took on the old Southern States silos, transforming an iconic Richmond landmark into a work of collaborative art. They also threw what looked like a heck of a party!

I asked my brother to tag along on this excursion, as I was under the impression that this facility was no longer in use, but there were a handful of cars in the parking lot and machine noises happening inside, so who knows.

If this place isn't abandoned, somebody should tell its creepy, rusted exterior.
I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to access the site or that maybe the artwork wouldn't still be there, but we walked around for awhile, climbed on stuff, and took pictures and nobody seemed to care.

Leroy Henderson

Leroy Henderson's photography is amazing.  These massive prints of his work were my favorite part, especially since months of exposure to the elements had partially pulled one of them down and it gave the whole thing a feeling of desertion.
